Buyer Personas... nah just guess!

Let me start by saying that I am an advocate of building Buyer Personas. If you want the nice version of this post that speaks to the "value of Buyer Personas" go to the Slant Marketing Blog (http://slantmarketing.blogspot.com/). Slant will make you feel better about yourself and will help you recover from your mistakes.

This is a Rogue post so the "tone" for this one is a rant, aimed at disrupting your wrong thinking.

This post is a shot at the folks who get aggravated when I "waste" their time by asking them questions about stupid things like "Who is interested in your product?", "Where is that person?" or worst of all "What problem do you solve for that individual?"

Arrrgh!

Here is the reality. If you don't stop and think through your Ideal Targeted Client and build a Buyer Persona, you are just guessing!! I don't care if you are making an "educated" guess, it's still a guess. Your guessing will lead to a variety of outcomes including:
  • Collecting a competitive @*% -whooping
  • Spending unreasonable amounts of money
  • Wasting your time
  • Wasting my time
  • Eventual employee layoffs
  • Lower profits
  • Decreased revenue
  • Decreased brand equity
  • Less friends
  • Maybe divorce
  • Wrinkles
  • Digestive issues
  • Stress
Still feel like guessing?
